The town of Fort Gibson is nestled in the green hills of Northeastern Oklahoma, the foothills of the Ozarks and surrounded by four rivers, three lakes and many meandering creeks. We are just across the Arkansas River from Muskogee, OK, and about 45 miles SE of Tulsa, OK. The oldest community in the state, established in 1824, Fort Gibson offers the quality of small town life with a promise for future developemnt. FIre and Police Protection
Ten full time officers including our Police Chief and five reserve officers provide protection and services. Also the has a special operations unit ready for search and rescue operations, hostage negotiations or any other need. For more information call (918) 478-2610.
The town has three full time firefighters and a full time City Fire Marshall. The main firefighting force is made up of 20 volunteers giving the city a fire insurance rating of six. The firefighters have the latest equipment available to them, which gives them the ability to respond all EMS requests including land and sea rescues, mulitple story rescues, automobile accidents or industiral / commercial incidents.
Fort Gibson also supports a country wide 911 system, a city wide emergency notification system with emergency shelters, a Muskogee County EMS station and a Civil Defense Director.
Telecommunications and Utility Coverage
Fort Gibson has multiple telecommunications providers offering high speed internet services and a complete offering of business and residential phone services. Medical, Education and Housing Information
Medical facilities are esily accesible with an urgent care care center and medical offices operated by The Tahlequah Hospital Foundation, medical offices of Dr. Back and Fort Gibson Chiropractic Center. Dental treatment is available by Dr. Frank Evans D.D.S. and Dr. Michael Nelson D.D.S. Fort Gibson offers eye car from Precision Eye Care and has two pharmacies to choose from including Scott's Pharmacy. Also in the area are Muskogee Bone and Joint Clinic and Muskogee Regional Medical Center.
